God-Centered

Recognizing that all things exist for the glory of our Triune God, we seek to be God-centered and God-glorifying in all that we do, to spread the fame and honor of His great name.

Confessionally Grounded

The training in this ministry is rooted in the Scriptures as faithfully summarized and expressed in the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.

Church Oriented

The Heart of Georgia Ministry Training Center is not a ministry disconnected from the local church but is a ministry of a group of local churches in middle Georgia cooperating with each other in training leaders and church members to serve in our churches and in churches throughout the world.

Practically Focused

The Heart of Georgia Ministry Training Center does not seek to replace the good work of sound seminaries but seeks to supplement that work with additional hands-on training in the practice of ministry.

Thanks to the generous investment of Heart of Georgia churches and individuals, the cost of each class is kept at a very affordable price.

Fall 2026 Course Schedule

PREACHING

Preaching Apocalyptic Literature

This semester we are offering a course in preaching that is only open to men whom their elders recognize as being potentially gifted and called to serve the church in ministering the Word of God.

This course provides both biblical instruction in rightly dividing Apocalyptic Literature (i.e. Daniel, Ezekiel, Revelation, etc.) and the opportunity to practice faithful preparation and delivery of sermons from these Apocalyptic books and sections of the Bible.

The course employs the use of video lectures from the Charles Simeon Trust to be watched by students at home and discussed together in class. Students will also be assigned two passages from the Apocalyptic books and fill out sermon preparation worksheets to be presented to the class for feedback, as well as preach a sermon to the class from a apocalyptic passage and receive constructive feedback. The video lectures to be purchased by the students are found online at simeontrust.org/courses/apocalyptic-literature.

Tuition: Credit $76*
*Note: Access to Video Lectures will cost an additional $24, and students will need to buy their own textbooks.

BIBLICAL COUNSELING

Dynamics of Biblical Change

This semester we are offering a course in biblical counseling that is open to men and women whom their elders recognize as having potential gifts to come alongside others to bring hope and healing through the Scriptures.

This course is the first of 12 counseling modules and lays the foundation for understanding how biblical change takes place, and therefore it examines the central dynamic of all biblical counseling. Lectures, reading, and practical application are all designed to enable even an inexperienced student to grasp the fundamental principles of biblical soul-care and practice them in a way that is genuinely helpful to the counselee. As part of the counseling practice in this course, students are expected to engage in mentored counseling, as well as a self-counseling project.

Class Times: A three-day modular course from Thursday, September 24 through Saturday, September 26 from 8 AM to 6 PM
Meals: A lunch will be provided each day with a meal charge of $15 for the three lunches
